The Quest for the Perfect Toddler Juice Box

by admin on March 19, 2010

I was going through walmart the other day trying to find some juice for my family since I’ve decided to drop sodas for a while. well while i was there i decided to get some juices specifically for my 2 year old daughter. Not a big deal right? WRONG! I was confronted with a stout isle of juice boxes and shrimp bottles and “foil packs” and every type of portable juice available. I bought a pack of each that i cold afford and heres what i found when it came to ones my toddler liked or disliked.

Mott’s for Tots
This one was a bit taller than the regular juice boxes but was narrower. I don’t know if this is what made it harder to squeeze or if it was thicker, but it was really good for preventing messes. The juice is supposed to be fruit juice mixed with purified water, and this is what it tastes like. You can drink them straight out of the box or chill them first and they are better chilled. the apple juice tastes more watery than the fruit punch so i think this is why my daughter didn’t like them very much but the fruit punch was a astronomical hit.

Capri sun
NO! great for older kids but trust me, no matter how delicate your child is she will squish these all over. And if that doesn’t happen wait until they find out they can blow in it and the juice comes out of the straw then. the only plus to this is that the flavors are estimable, and they are mostly clear. but they do contain allot of sweeteners. so win caution.

Tropicana orange juice boxes. These are nifty little milk carton type boxes that you can insert a collapsible stray into. great since its orange juice, bad stray. it has a hole in it so the once you get down below the collapsing part, your child will run to you to fix it after every drink. i wound up just pouring the juice into a sippy, which defeated the purpose of the juice box.

Sunny delight individual bottles.
These are substantial for on the go if you can handle the mess thats sure to fallow. No stray, just a very grand opening. great for older children. One of the downsides is though that its very tangy, which may overwhelm a toddlers taste and may even give diaper rash if quiet potty training.

Aquafina Auqa pods
I know this isn’t juice, but i will review it here anyways since its a healthy drink . Huge for toddlers since its in a neat little orb shape, they seem more interested in it. and the smaller bottle makes it easy to hold, overall a great way to get limited ones to drink water.

Over all the two winners would be Motts for tots and then auqapods. Both healthy both earn them the fluids they need and both make less mess. (most of the time.)
